bruise of the week
well - since i've had two straight weeks of superior bruising, i thought i would continue to share my some of the joys that i have in playing rugby....battle wounds. last week - the handprint, this week - the shiner. now, i must point out that this shiner is not a true shiner. i only got a couple of fingers in the eye rather than getting an outright hit to the face. but it's still of the shiner-esk persona. please ignore how terrible i look - it's harder than you think to take a selfpic with an SLR camera.
our game was good - we won 29-5. Still a good win but the other team did a really good job holding us off until the last 15 minutes. i'm really enjoying playing with the titans. they're very young which is a switch from playing with the saracens. i loved playing with the saries too. they're just very different teams. saracens had all the experience but the age to go with it. titans have all the speed and skill but fewer of the seasoned rugby players. it just puts me in a different roll. the titans challenge me in parts of the game that are my weakest (running fast and running for extended periods of time). the hope is that it will make me a better and more fit rugby player. especially because the coach makes us run 1 wind sprint for every 2 penalty we get. not bad until you consider that we got upwards and beyong 20 penalties yesterday.
oh tuesday...practise day...how i hate you.
my high school girls play off tomorrow for the chance to go to provincials. i really hope that they win. that would be so awesome. they deserve it. but i guess we'll see - to chestermere we go. and i'm off to a branding later this afternoon. maybe i'll get some sweet shots there too.
the last thing i want to say is a bon voyage to my friend sarah who is leaving on wednesday on mercy ships to libria where she will be working for a year with a dental team. good luck and God speed sarah. my prayers are with you.
peace out until next week.
