music monday
i think i have decided what can complete my blogging week. i am a bit of a copy cat in that kerry has already categorized her blogging on days of the week to help her blog consistently but not necessarily every day. since i have a blogging syndrome where i will not blog for months at a time and then suddenly suffer from blogging diahhrea i figure that plans are good. plans aid in success. so i figured i would give it a try.
i already have f-p-f...so why not music mondays...and just to make myself sound snazzy and gross, i'm going to call it m2.
why m2?
well - i have a great fondness for music. there are months where i obsessively buy new music or search for new and unheard of bands. i'm very lucky to have friends who are well-versed in the music industry...kerry, becca, mike, mark...there are many.
i have a very eclectic collection of music. you can find everything from kanye to hillsong, andrea bocelli to bedouin soundclash. i do have my favourite genres and some like kanye linger in my library because of my pronghorn years - when i listen to them i can almost imagine that i'm back in the change room with my team singing stronger at the top of our lungs right before the 2007 national finals.
i have always loved music. it moves me. it evokes emotion - it can break or warm your heart. it can get you pumped for a game or help you cry. it tells a story and it's completely unique.
anyways...welcome to m2...
jay malinowski - bright lights and bruises
i was talking with someone a few weeks ago about how itunes, as great as it is, has ruined me in some ways. i seldom buy full albums any more simply because i can preview and purchase the songs that i really like. no more buying albums half full of songs i'll never listen to. i have a couple of musician friends (vicky berg and becca mabbett) who are quite adamant about the importance of listening to an artists album completely and from beginning to end. you'll miss the story, i'm told. there are nuiances and pieces to the picture that you'll never see.
with this fresh in my mind - i purchased jay malinowski's album. and i'll tell you - i don't regret it one bit. start to finish it's wonderful. if you listen to him before reading this you may recognize his very unique voice. he is the singer of bedouin soundclash, a canadian reggae band. he released his solo album earlier this year.
malinowski's voice is beautiful and angstful at times. it's a fabulous acoustic album! i highly recommend it.
take a listen and then buy his album, turn your shuffle off, and sit down with a warm cup of tea on a cold winter's night. trust me, it makes christmas seem a whole lot less nasty.
.:bear:.
